Principal Message

Mr. Caricari

I encourage all students and parents to check parent portal throughout this week as we only have ten days left of school. If you come across any assignments that have a zero posted, students should speak with that teacher as soon as possible to see if there are points that can still be earned for those missing assignments.

We continued with the state testing cycle this past week. Our 7th –graders took the SC READY test on Monday while our 6th – Graders took the SC Ready on Tuesday thru Thursday. The English 1 students took the writing portion of the EOC exam on Wednesday and all 8th-graders took the SC PASS Science test. Testing will continue this coming week with the following schedule: Monday – 7th-Grade SC PASS Social Studies; Tuesday – 6th-Grade SC PASS Science; Wednesday – Make-up Testing for all grade levels; Thursday – Algebra 1 EOC Exam; and Friday Part 2 of the English 1 EOC Exam. Make-up testing for the EOC Exams will take place the week of May 21.

In other happenings this past week, our 7th –grade students welcomed John Letterhos, FBI Agent, to FMMS as he presented his internet safety program to them on Tuesday morning. He returned that evening and presented to students and parents who were able to attend the SIC event on Internet Safety.  His presentation is outstanding and we are very fortunate to have Agent Letterhos as a community partner! The FMMS Spring Chorus Concert took place on Tuesday evening at Nation Ford High School. Congratulations to our chorus students and Mrs. Bouldin on an outstanding performance and for representing FMMS in a positive way! On Friday, we welcomed the future 6th-graders to FMMS in the morning and our 8th- graders went on their high school tours. We finished out the week with the Block Party sponsored by the FMMS Student Council.

All families should have received information from the Fort Mill School District concerning registration for next school year. Please see the following link for directions on registering your child for next school year: Gateway Registration Information. If you haven’t registered already, please go through the registration process as soon as possible. If you experience difficulties with the process, please call the school for assistance.

In closing, we have many events listed below that are right around the corner. Please continue reading for important dates and information that pertain to you.

Sincerely,

Tony Caricari, Principal

Summer School

In order to be eligible for promotion in the Fort Mill School District, students must pass three of the four core classes (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) for the year. Students who fall below that expectation can attend summer school. if you are a parent of a student who is in a position to possibly fall below the district standard for promotion, please go to the associated link to see the summer school schedule.  Summer School for middle school students will take place at Pleasant Knoll Middle.

One School + Education = Hope (1S+E=H)

The student council held their Spring Jewelry Sale this Past week. They also sponsored the Block Party with one hundred percent of the proceeds from both events going directly to our 1S+E=H initiative. We will have the total raised for these two events and overall total for the year in next week’s letter.

FMMS has teamed up with a local organization called Education = Hope to provide students in Ecuador with the essentials that they need in order to receive an education.
