Principal Message

Mr. Caricari

It is hard to believe that the end of the first semester is upon us! I encourage all students and parents to take another look at Parent Portal to see if there are any assignments that are incomplete. There are only four days left to submit any late work if points are still available to earn.

This past week at FMMS was very exciting, as we had many programs that took place. On Monday and Thursday, our basketball, cheer, and dance teams were in action. Please see below in the “Athletics” section for the results of the basketball games. On Wednesday evening, the 7th and 8th-grade bands performed their winter concert at Nation Ford High School. We had a big crowd support the band that evening, and we were all highly impressed with the performance of the students. Congratulations to Mrs. Grantham and our band students for a job well done!

At this time, I want to highlight our musical theatre students. This past week was their “show week” for Disney’s, Beauty and the Beast, Jr. On Tuesday evening, they had the open dress rehearsal and Wednesday afternoon held a closed dress rehearsal to fine-tune their skills to get ready for their big performances to finish out the week. Our student body and staff were privileged to attend the performance at an assembly Thursday morning. The performance was outstanding!  Then came Friday’s main performance in front of a standing room only crowd and they knocked it out of the park! It was awesome to see the level of support that our families, students, staff, former students, and community showed toward our program Friday night! Congratulations to Mrs. Bouldin, Mrs. Snowber-Marini, and all of the students who participated for an outstanding performance!

Friday was also a very special day for our staff, as we were honored by our PTO and FMMS families at the Annual Holiday Cookie and Gift Card Exchange. The cookies were off- the- charts good and the gift cards were very much appreciated. On behalf of the staff of FMMS, I want to personally our gratitude for the kindness, generosity, and love that was shown to us this holiday season.

In closing, we have a “BLUE OUT” sponsored by the FMMS Athletic Booster Club tomorrow. Please go to the following link for more information: BLUE OUT Info . If you have a twitter account, please become a follower of mine on @FMMSadmin1, the school on @FMMSJackets, and the district on @FortMillSD. We have already started posting some pictures of recent events.

Please continue reading for important dates and information.

The Direction of Your Dreams

The last career cluster to be covered in our Career Exploration Video Series is one of my favorites – Manufacturing!  Did seeing the video change what your child thought about manufacturing? .

Students also saw a video that encouraged them to make an intentional plan after high school and not just set off on a path because it seems like the logical next step.  I’ve shared this one before, but it’s worth repeating! .

Finally, students learned about the opportunities for career exploration that they will have during middle school.  The next big activity is the 7th-Grade Career Fair in March.

Happy Holidays!

Attention Winter Cheer, Basketball, and Dance families - Please sign up for concessions volunteers and bring in drinks for concession sales.

Attention all AB Club Members

Remember - the volunteer box on the Booster Club membership form you filled out at the beginning of the year?  It said “willing to volunteer as needed.”   Many of you checked YES.  Thank you to all of you that did check yes!   Well, the fundraiser below is exactly that, an event the AB Club needs your help.

The Fireworks Supermarket is looking for cashiers/baggers during their New Year’s busy time.  They need 10-15 people starting on Wednesday, Dec. 27 through Dec. 31.  Volunteers must be 18 and older to participate.  The store manager will work volunteers into a shift schedule based on your availability.  The manager will keep track of time worked and our FMMS Booster Club volunteers will earn $10/hour for the booster club.  After Jan. 1, the corporate office will write a check payable to FMMS Athletic Booster Club.

Chantal Baker- Manager   803-802-3200 or

If this fundraising opportunity works for you, please contact the store manager to indicate your availability and that you represent the FMMS AB Club.  In December, when you have your volunteer shift and hours confirmed at Fireworks Supermarket, please contact Suzanne Kuebler at with the information so we can keep a record of who is working and the number of hours worked.

Thank you in advance!  This is a great way for you to earn money for FM Middle Athletics!
